Fact over fiction

Caught inside a fine spun web of lies,
Where truths have long since died.
One lie strung along a landslide wronged,
The truth was stretched far and long.

A tall tale told to over compensate the lie,
A broken promise made to keep and justify.
A complex story flipped upside down again,
Once a lie is told,there is no happy end.

I was taught that your word is your bond,
Honesty is integrity a heart dipped in bronze.
Tell the truth and life will give you gold,
Tell a lie and life will only give you coal.

I choose fact over fiction,truths over lies,
I choose to be respectably wise.
From a fib once told to save the day,
To a truth that got lost along the way
