Primordial Skies

Grey wisps skittered across the endless lilac sky
gathering towards a cherry hum
that would shoot through the atmosphere
and crackle the dry grass
to cinders

Multi-coloured invertebrates scattered into wasted graves
in an effort to escape the rolling waves of destruction

Frightened children hiding in an earthen hut
peeked out at the electric air
shaky fingers interlaced
uncomforted by the fractionally climbing sparks
turning grey to white
with the promise of death
