Winter Freeze

  Bright sunshine bringing
the cold sadness of winter
 from warmth to stinging freeze
like a murder flock
 gathering around a fresh carcass
feeling all the drafts
looking out the window seeing the
bare bones of the poplar
 hearing the howling wind circling
sounding like madness
 suddenly touched by calm colors
winter laughs and lingers
devastation was lifted from the air
all that was frozen twinkled
