Resting Thanatos
Hypnos turned to his tacent brother
Twin of mine, you look tired
let rest the toiling clutch
for your hands are trembling.
Even a God must rest,
give my Oneiroi sons the task
A vision define by yearnings.
Rest lay not the icy touch
lights must die others will spark.
Clings to evening have started
can you not hear brother?
Leave me my work, I Thanatos must
grip, clutch drag them out!
Hypnos
crushed
grinds his favourite flower
paste from pods
a gift
like no other
what more
can a brother do
but offer...
Time passes where lain men gasp crying
Nyx breathes out with dreary ink
mortals pay heed, perk ears
listen, wile time slinking down
gives cold rap gracing doors
A sword cuts, his heart iron
collecting souls for the Underworld
Baying dogs howl for stolen masters
bristling shivers chill the begging man
disease ran fever, burning skin
trickling beads plummet riding small hours
gutters fill castaways sailing on
held by hand of crush hereafter
In a blink Hypnos slips
an arm around his brother
enfolded with trust
he gifts spark to tar.
"finally rest brother, gleam visions with me"
"I can show You what long thee seek"
Smoke fills his languid lung
a cold ominous greets reserve
an alien ground
where foot kicks upward rise
his eyes glaze over as thoughts flutter
images with wings kiss gently to his cheek
Weights upon chest lift dreadful wait
as numbers swell living earth
curved lips of a God
smiling, embraces long lost love
winks and blink his head nods
snuffed conquest He dreams anew

Everyone remembers his dark deeds, but for some, Thanatos' attentions are a blessing we easily forget. Good work on weaving in the Greek names, Soul!

as a kid Hypnos was a fave...I was always kind of bummed there wasn't more tales of his brother and he...then came Thanos in Marvel comics a few years later....ahhhh sated

My thoughts were whirling around, trying to find some conclusion to the adventure written;
