You'll Never See Yourself with That Mirror In The Way

Today is a Wednesday. On Saturday, I went
out to lunch with my father. I was in the restroom.
I was staring in the mirror for
about five minutes. This outfit looked horrible,
and so did my hair. My pants didn't fit right.
An older woman finally made her way to the sink next to me.
I hadn't even noticed her walk in.
She said hi.
I responded with a distracted hello
She chuckled to herself, making
her way to the door. Just as she was leaving,
she said one last thing
"Darling you'll never see youself
with that mirror in the way" And I didn't get it.

On Sunday, I went to a movie with my friend.
She's really shy, always concerned
about how she looks
dreading any sort of embarrassment.
And we went to the bathroom.
I came out of the stall to find her
staring at the mirror
fixing her shirt, her skirt, her hair.
But I didn't get it.
She was always so beautiful.
And I wanted to tell her stop;
I wanted to tell her she looked fine.
I wanted to tell her
"Darling you'll never see yourself
with that mirror in the way."

And I f
inally got it
