She doesn't fall easy
but fall hard, she does
throwing herself at the mercy
of the love gods
whilst unintentionally
pushing her lover
into another's arms

Her virtuous loyalty
curses her heart
not allowing her
to jump ship
despite its demise

Still willing to
give her last nickel
or the blouse off her back
for those who smoked
her like another rock
and drop her like
a bag of wet cement

'cause she's always been
too much to handle
yet not enough to hold

Just another stone
to step upon
not meant to last
