A Writer Writes

A writer writes always
They say but does it reflect the soul?

I wish I could ask Edgar Allan Poe
He wrote of darkness and despair.
Is that to say his soul wasn't fair?
I say nay, He was a beautiful poet reciting the knock, knock, knocking of evil at his door.

What of writers today?
Stephen King writes about evil's sting
Does that make him a monster?
Or someone who is listening
Channeling imagination.

All is not light in this world
We have the sun and moon
To inspire and delight.

No soul that walks the Earth is unblemished
We are all on a journey
One that isn't finished.

Clive Barker is a favorite writer of mine
We all need a little Hell Raiser
From time to time.

To say as humans, as writers
We never falter into the night
Would be a lie.

I write what i've experienced
What i've seen and from my imagination
That's just me.

Does that make me evil?
No my soul soars free
A writer writes always.
