The Acorn

I am asked this question so often...
Do You Believe: Yes..
Do you worship in Church: No
Why?:I believe God
is everywhere I don't need to sit in a single room or house to be closer to him.
My Church is the Universe.

occasionally though..there are ministers that touch on life and death in the most profound ways...this happened very recently at a memorial service...
and I am paraphrasing...

The Acorn
is a symbol of
potential, strength,
life, fertility and immortality.

We all know what this is...
I carry an acorn in my pocket
occasionally pulling it out
to view it to study and feel it.

Let's just think about
what this would appear as
to an alien.
How would they look at it?
They would study it
very closely
holding it perhaps
try to eat it, smell it,
break it open.
But, they would have no idea
no concept of what
it has the potential to become.

If I were to take this tiny
seed and place it in the earth
we all know what happens,
what this becomes from seedling
to a glorious mighty oak.

How can there be any
doubt that there is a God?
Who else could perform such
a miracle as this tiny seed?
And we are, all of us miracles.
When it is our time to return
to the earth, if this one small seed
can produce such a magnificent tree,
imagine, just imagine what happens to us.

...perhaps this touched me so deeply because i just happen to carry this symbol of life with me as well...coincidence?
