Roamers of the Dark

A collaboration by Souladaretease and Grace

Past twilight the night
cold fingered spectres
on unkind darkness
Fluttering displaced air
disturbing as they roam
moaning the coming dawn

Whisperers call upon crawling winds
icy cold breath, stings
to nape of necks
reaching through to brush
that which has been lost
lights within the dark glittering

Icy cold breaths of ghosts past
walking cold paths home
distant memories of warmth
draw their wafting coldness near
to what once was haunt
for kith and kin so dear

Dreams, fade in misted memory
cloak lay search for lost reality
spun shoulders, sense piercing energies
awaiting...displaced... anything
as height of awareness screams silent
images of pasts play on the mind

Seeing their once beloved
in the arms of new loves
moan they louder in despair
love lost in misty memories
guarded by tombstones
their husks, once mortal coils

In-between being, wisp and whisper
riding destiny denial, craving
those graven misfortune etch attention
in fingernail scrape ply the taut fabric
kisses trim with missing air
esculent life taunts faded hungry

Blush of dawn
Brush them away
The roamers of the night
To return to shadowy land
to moan the mourn of morn before
unremembered forever more
