Me vs. the Devil: Poetic prayer
Painfully holding onto a thin string I know I'll let go of. The memory of knowing how to hold on fades away. A wandering animal walking blindfolded. No hope.
The devil can only say snu snu. Where's my heart and can I think for myself when somebody else's language is already wired in me? The devil manages to say to humans Be like me. God''s sharp voice softly echoes Think for yourself. I try but the words are coming out as snu snu.
Please God, fix my heart. My armor in guarding is very weak in guarding what You made. Please throw down a thicker string; the last one slipped out of my hands. Please send down glue. I chant a wrong song. Please pour the right words in my heart.
Oh God of all light, my heart cannot survive in the devil's mouth. Please open Your hands. My heart most surely belongs there compared to here.
