"Self-Mortification."

From whence come wars and fighting's among you?
don't they come from your desires that are contrary
to one another in your members?

You desire, and have not: you kill, and desire to have,
and cannot obtain: you fight and war, yet you have not,
because you ask not.

You ask, and receive not, because you ask amiss, that
you may consume it upon your desires.

How can I contribute to ending all the warring that is
rife in this world
How can I possibly begin to bring about peace that will
create an everlasting reprieve for the flaws that are the
catalyst of all things horrible

Do I start within myself
Do I first look within and not at the evil that are in other
men's eyes, wanting to pluck it out
Should I introspect and dig down deep into all of my inner-
layers
Laying them bare until there is nothing hidden, that is not
revealed

For I know that I have made of myself a multi-faceted
mystery that represents nothing that is everlasting
I grasp at the wind and only obtain err
And when I think that I have accumulated something truly
beautiful, I discover that it is nothing by which I want to
compare

So I beat my chest because of the anguish that it brings
This I don't do willingly but when it all comes to fruition
within me
From such self-loathing feelings, I find myself unable to
refrain

So I realize that a mortification must take place so that I
can escape this, "Nihilistic, and Wrathful," fate
This man of wyrms, motivated by self-pleasing desires
seeks-out his own bodies ends but realizes that he is only
heaping-up kindling for his own funeral-pyre
