Wish I Could Want You
Smile at me like that,
Or frown off into the distant sunset,
Disregard your worries,
Your stresses,
So I can be in awe of you.
'There's no point in worrying'
You say to me,
I just want you more.
On the periphery of my daydreams,
I won't let you any closer.
When I kiss you on the cheek,
Give you a hug as I leave,
After a few hours of companionship,
It's all I can do not to plead with you,
Tell you that I wish I could want you.
I wish I could tell you
It's all a lie,
I don't watch TV,
Wish I could share it with you,
I don't kiss him,
Close my eyes,
Dream it's you.
Wish it was you.
So smile at me like that,
Or frown into the distant sunset.
Make me wish I could want you.
Or frown off into the distant sunset,
Disregard your worries,
Your stresses,
So I can be in awe of you.
'There's no point in worrying'
You say to me,
I just want you more.
On the periphery of my daydreams,
I won't let you any closer.
When I kiss you on the cheek,
Give you a hug as I leave,
After a few hours of companionship,
It's all I can do not to plead with you,
Tell you that I wish I could want you.
I wish I could tell you
It's all a lie,
I don't watch TV,
Wish I could share it with you,
I don't kiss him,
Close my eyes,
Dream it's you.
Wish it was you.
So smile at me like that,
Or frown into the distant sunset.
Make me wish I could want you.
