Amy Suzanne Lockoby

she held his head under the water
his body thrashed and thrashed
she did not let up
he even tried to fake her out
letting his body go limp,
but this wasn't her first drowning
she knew how long it should take

she sang a song of death
his leg's began to kick
she really loved the struggle
she sang even louder

"Life here is grand with friends I love so dear
Comfort I get from God's own word
Yet when I face that chilling hand of death
Won't you tell me
Where could I go but to the Lord"

she hummed the last verse
and his kicking slowly stopped
she made sure he was completely submerged
she pushed him towards the bottom
when she could feel the lake floor she held him there
and then stood upon him and sang her song again

"Life here is grand with friends I love so dear
Comfort I get from God's own word
Yet when I face that chilling hand of death
Won't you tell me
Where could I go but to the Lord"

she held her arms to the sky
twirling and dancing on the body at the bottom of the lake
she was waiting for God to reward her
her arms must have been extended for hours towards the sun
she held them there until it had almost left the sky,
she felt a sort of tapping on her left leg
looking over she discovers quite a large fish
the fish looked to her with sad wet eyes
she asked the fish "did God send you"
the fish blinked twice and said "your name miss"
"that is for God to know and you to find out"
the fish smiled and said
"Miss this is not your first day on the lake
nor your fist life you have taken here, but this shall be your
first day with me, my name is Akakios and I have come
to teach you a lesson, a horrid one but it must be taught"

"Oh fish move along I wait here for God, not you"
the mighty fish laughed so hard water shot from its gills
"what if your God sent me Miss?
what if your God wants to hear your name"
the woman turned to the fish and asked
"what do you know of God"
"same as you Miss" replied the fish
she stood there momentarily thinking on what the fish had said
"what if I do tell you my name fish, what then"
"I am more than a mere fish and I have a name, Akakios"
at that moment she saw a school of fish surround her
there mouths coming out of the water they were humming
her favorite Elvis tune Where Could I Go but to the Lord

Akakios asked her " your name Miss, please"
the school of fish swam counterclockwise around her still humming
tears began to run down her face and into the lake
the school of fish swallowed her tears
Akikios was still, the moon was on the rise
"Miss you have tried my patients I want your name
and I want it now" the school of fish began swimming faster
and faster around her they were making a water tornado
and it was sucking her in, she began to cry
then she began singing in a sad teary voice

"Life here is grand with friends I love so dear
Comfort I get from God's own word
Yet when I face that chilling hand of death
Won't you tell me
Where could I go but to the Lord"

Akakios took his weight and placed it over her face
holding her head down in the water
she screamed and the the school of fish screamed with her
the air was leaving her chest, slowly but surly,
one by one the school of fish brought up from the bottom
each and every soul she had brought here to die,
their faces decaying and the body mush
they found their strength also, they too began to scream
the whole lake was alive with terror

Akakios pulled the woman back up by her hair and with his teeth,
"woman I said speak your name"
she tried to speak but only water came out
the school of fish pounded the water from her chest
which spewed like a fountain
and with the water came her name

Akakios let her body fall to bottom of the lake
the school of fish took her name and swam it away
and placed it on the tree of death
before Akakios left he took each of her victims
and made them float on top of the lake
for they had sent the call for her name
and they will finally go home
