Changes
Cold wind on face, the September air now takes summers place. Biting at bare skin. The sun hides
itself away more often than it used to and even when it reappears the warmth is somewhat
removed. Autumn; no more short sleeves, instead we pull on socks to cover up our feet.
Crunching underneath of frosts will soon be on its way. Leaves falling, scenes of red, purple, brown and
gold greets ones gaze. Only a few months ago it was the hottest day of the year. The change now so
swift and sudden, all long forgotten and unprepared: winter wardrobes need restocking, fires roar
ablaze, get up in the gloomy darkness and leave work doing the same. Snow now seems inevitable,
hot water bottle at the ready. Steady rumble overhead with fireworks painting the sky. A
transformation is clear to see, uplifting in its own way.
