Mind over matter.....

I’ve heard, even said 'mind over matter,
If you don't mind it don't matter.'
But I think its matter over mind,
Cause if I truly matter you would be kind.
Unless I don't matter, then it’s your mind.
That has the problem, not mine....
So the mind is so fragile and complex,
Everyone want to believe its simplex!
Many struggle not knowing who they are,
They fight a feeling of being bizarre.
Told they have a disease, an illness;
but never able to find the stillness.
They think they’re an outcast;
Never picked first always last.
Hard to know if I'm up or down
Some days a smile most days a frown
Called a crazy freak and a weirdo
No ability to control how I feel don't they know?

Problems with their concentration,
Not knowing what's up, such frustration.
Thinking who am I, I hate me,
Where am I going, what am I doing,
I don't fit in, nobody gets me.
All these thoughts accruing,
am I going nuts, have I gone crazy?
These days and nights seem so hazy.
Schizophrenia, bipolar, depression,
Which one causes your indiscretion?
Is it OCD, anxiety, suicide?
That makes your nightmares amplified?
Paranoia caused from all of the voices,
damn near impossible to make choices.
The night sweats from the memories,
these pains have haunted for centuries,
causing some to enter penitentiaries.
Sending some to a cold padded room
No one comes see 'em they only assume
They are fine! However they feel this place to be a tomb.

Rather than being trapped some would rather die,
or go on thinking that nothing’s wrong, so deny.
If I take meds they'll think I'm sick,
explaining my problems, no easy picnic.
The doctors says I just need to wait,
The ups am downs are worse making me hate.
But as the meds start to make me stable,
I'm finding that I'm so very capable,
Of standing on my own two feet,
this new confidence is helping me feel complete!
