A Spray of Roses

Take these flowers,
I bought you when on  holiday
It seems as yesterday do you remember?
the rose above the trellis arch;
deep red as I recall?
I put one in your hair,
carried you through the white wood door
Red for love, I see your smile, you
understood me well.
Valentine today only one spray
there was no choice, only one will do
Roses of darkest hue, red as years ago
lock the door, turn the key
throw off our clothes
roses in your hair as years ago,
waking in a well used bed.
