Wild flowers

I stopped cutting the front lawn
some time back, pristine contours
disappeared, neighbours  frowned
but  daisies  and cowslip
stuck up for me, dandelions
attacked on every side, called
to escape 24D and pen knives,
keeping time for me as reward,
so , emboldened . . .oxlip
daisies, forget-me-not joined
a  swelling throng ,nettles
renewing early friendships with
docks and their soothing balm,
long forgot by children playing
in cornfield stubble, stung,
 tripping as  kite strings
tangle and kites breaks free
Now I sit and watch, leave them
to live their lives, in peace
every day and everywhere.
