Not Who You'd Thought I'd Be
I was the boy who you said was 2 short or to small,
I was the boy with those round golden glasses,
When we picked teams i may have been the guy who got picked 2nd to last,
yes i was even the boy you were ashamed 2 admit you thought was cute...
Now I Am a Man now wat do you think I think of you?

Striking power here.. great build up & then the
end, almost 'at throat'..
Reminds of an old song, believe was Toby Keith,
"How do you like me now".. same principal.

Short, but packs a lot of meaning. I can really relate to this poem. When I was young, I was usually the one who was picked last for teams, I was the kid who had the thick, broken glasses that were usually repaired with Dads black electrical tape, and I was the kid who was picked on, until 7th grade when a kid was picking on me and I had had enough. We were on the bleachers in the gym,and when I turned and told him that I had enough, I gave him a little shove and knocked him off the bleachers. Luckily he wasn't hurt, except for his pride (all of his friends laughed at him). I didn't get in trouble for this, but it did help to change how I felt about myself. Thank you for the opportunity to read this poem. I look forward to reading more of your work.

its often just a part of growing up, not fitting in or being picked on. But after a period of time you grow up as well and you learn to love and accept yourself and thats what really matters. Im just thankful for surviving those times because today a lot of kids don't make it and its tragic. thanks for the love and the read HAWK...
