Whiskey Kisses

I take a sip from my water bottle
Liquid courage
The vodka doesn't burn anymore

I let my fears dissolve
Dizziness and slurred words replace them
I feel light and warm

I can pretend people want me
Pretend I'm not being judged
The voices all stop

We kiss.
Our alcohol-fueled romance
Slurred 'I love you's and clumsy touches

It keeps me together
It fills the void
It's not real love
But our whiskey kisses are enough
