Long Distance No More
It's hard to believe
in the same room
on the same bed
in the same moment
propped up on one elbow
I look into your eyes
and smile in disbelief
that we are finally here.
All this time
not smelling you
not touching your skin
or kissing you.
And now,
I run my hand along your hip
and bring you in
and hold you tightly.
I can feel your
saying., "Yes,"
before I even
really ask.
The moment arrives
and you fold back your robe
and I can see you
in the shaded light, so naked.
You roll over
on me and kiss my chest
and run your hands
along my perimeter.
And I can finally feel
the subtle balance
of your skin
within the reaches of my tongue.
And who we are
and who've both become
to each other
is now just here.
When first we meet
I want the simple pleasure
of just knowing
that you're real.
