I want to see me through your eyes
To know if what you're telling me is lies
Like how you think I'm better than
I ever seem to believe I am
And how you think I've got this potential
Making it sound as if I'm special
When really I'm just like the rest
Mistakes abound you seem to forget
When you look at me it's almost as if
My flaws never really do exist
You keep saying they don't matter much
And find good in all of the bad stuff
I want to know how it's possible to see
This apparently different side of me
The piece of me that has undeniable worth
That shines brightly upon this Earth
The part of me that reflects beauty
Or whatever you say is the true me
The one that you seem to admire
The one who you say can inspire
I want to feel confidence you feel
When you talk about what I can achieve
I want to know what makes me great
And to appreciate what you appreciate
I want to look inside my soul
And find all the things I should know
The things that you seem to find so easily
How you just access every piece of me
As you stroll on through life's adventure
You act like I'm some hidden treasure
And from your every heartfelt description
I think things look better in your vision
So I can't help but wonder what it's like
To look at myself with your sense of sight
