Yuppie
Piles and piles of decaying people,
Pull the roots, drain the nutrients from the source.
Greater men have fallen to less than this.
I've sat through too many memorials,
And I have never been closer
to the one thing I can't believe in.
Senseless people screaming "Let Him in"
Underneath a thousand pounds of pressure,
a hand protrudes from the earth.
As I sat up from where I fell,
I realize I can't feel my once-strong legs.
Inside my stomach is a hungry ash pit,
Which needs mending to make a
fire I held for so goddamn long.
