Savage Love

savaged:To assault and maul by biting, rending, goring, etc;tear at or
mutilate.

How were we to know love would bleed out in
second what taken years to build.
when screaming was nothing but silent goodbyes
yelling incoherence words that resemble  love.
shallow hello’s and I love you’s allowed hate to fester
as fights became nothing but one sided conversations
with hypothetical. Tongues became mingle, biting back
words aimed to pierced through the heart.
rendering love helpless against the cutting.

how were we to know...that each day wasted on memories
would divide the whole of us into jagged seesaw
portions. Tearing tears from eyes like the kisses
we once shared each morning, only now...
now became the distant figures lingering in the background.
shaded in and overshadow by too many broken promises.

living between the point of misery and pass the point
of no return. We lay lost in past mistakes
counting scars our love branded across skins, marking
the weight of us in the downcast of our smiles
thinking we could heal from within the damage we
so carelessly tattooed on what was once  pure and grand.

how, how were we to know the savages we would become,
all in the name of love,  until love was nothing but
misplaced letters, one removed and three added spelled
over or loathe... each more cutting, breaking
until we bled out,and love
the dull outline of who we once were,
unrecognized in our new forms as nothing but
the game love savaged..
