Big Red
The fire door plated 1966 Awaiting patiently for it's crowning moment, standing open, it's pulleys held fast by decaying cord, it's glass intact, waiting for breakage, waiting in vain, condemned to stay open within its frame unused.

Glad you liked it Theo :)
Actually the fire door is real
But the factory is closed
Awaiting demolition
Beautiful door it is
Never got to do what it wss designed for
Thankfully.

Love this. In many ways it reminds me of the lines from Milton's "On His Blindness"
"...And that one talent which is death to hide
Lodged with me useless,...", and
"They also serve who only stand and wait"

Yes vee agreed it was installed the same month England lifted the world cup or so the small brass instilation plate stated
Stood silently, unmoving for 47 years maybe another year or two stay of execution before they pull it all down
I hope they break the glass and let the old lady move just once
