Ashes to Ashes
If tomorrow was my last day
and I had one last thing to say
I'd tell you just how much I care,
how much I love you; and I swear
I'd hold you till my arms grow numb
so I could hear your heartbeat strum
against my chest with pure affection,
the two of us as one; perfection.
If I had just one breath to take
and knew again I'd never wake,
I'd use it all for one last kiss,
a sign to show that you'll be missed,
a treasure in my heart, forever,
a love that will not fade, not ever.
If tomorrow was my last day
and I had nothing left to say,
I'd wish for nothing but a hug -
an embrace so loving and so snug,
a simple yet desired action
filled with nothing but affection,
two loving halves of pure perfection.
and I had one last thing to say
I'd tell you just how much I care,
how much I love you; and I swear
I'd hold you till my arms grow numb
so I could hear your heartbeat strum
against my chest with pure affection,
