Words tumble from shelves
silent unread unspoken
silent words simple
lexicons symbols
meaningless, futile
unless said and sung.
Arranged careless talk
paraded verse and rhyme
metafors and allegory
hide truth since Babel time.
Words of love sting of hate
letters from an alphabet
in many tongues,
slaves to whims and fancy
traded race to race
to suit our will
syntax grammar, spelling,
inventions of a mind
universal in its deceit

An experiment from my point of view LIZQ Words fascinate me, we abuse and use them. This poem has been knocking at the door for a long time.Slaves servants, friends, words can be all things to all men,I am a singer I write free verse since it is close to plainsong, my punctuation is not grammatical merely breathing instructions, phrases dictated by lung capacity. When talking one needs to have suffcient breath to carry the whole sense of what needs to say I have written some poems without punctuation and find it works. Reading poetry is often more difficult than the writing !

Thankyou Ms Vee so many are careless with the words they use/abuse.i write with the intention that my words will be read out loud and yes extentions of heart and mind to which I add soul.Your latest poem is superb.
