But I know he is
In the background,
My backs covered;
Not every syllable watched over
but enough words ingested to
satisfy my soul.
A safe distance unseen.
Free to choose my own direction,
Our interests shared.
My happiness put first.
A watchful eye,
If I should fall, (and I do often),
soft landings he would create;
Taking the hit on himself;
My wellbeing paramount.
This isn't what dreams may come,
but if it was, He would rescue me;
As I would him, if roles reversed.
My white knight, the protector of
all I hold dear to my heart.
In my corner,
Knowing he's there
Makes me happy.
My silent bodyguard
Wrapping me up and carrying me
away within his invisible touch.
He isn't here,
But I know he is.
