trace paper mistress

i was written upon the
surface of you in charcoal gray.
your heart and soul buried
beholden to another earthly sprite.

my pigment lifts and fades
and then silently i am gone.
with one feather soft breath, blown
i linger, floating dreamy and discolored.

and you are there, standing
in all of your mesmerizing glory.
i am but a mere shell, translucent
drifting weightless in the windless air.

your hearts sighs, carved upon figments
of my apparitional dreams,
residing on the surface of me
for all the world to see.
