Surrey Night

If I were to and you were to let
we could love as never man before
bible stories and dreams of heaven
see the deer in the park, moon beams,
glow worms on a Surrey night, only
once and never more, dying in my hand
distant, balmy eves and July days.
If I were to and you would let
I would love you like the lily on the lake
fold your wings, a butterfly about my lips
all nature to watch me drink my fill
exhaust the font of our desire,
quenched to  sleep, to wake again,
robin's cry and nightingale fading
in the light of glow worms
on a Surrey night.
