The World Burns

(PART FOUR OF THE TRAGEDY OF THE GOD-CROSSED LOVERS)

Upon this obsidian throne, I fill with rage.
Rage born of failure, pride and despair
Woven like a mesh under the skin.
It’s time for the screaming to begin.

Man, God’s children, will suffer the most
Since their suffering will not affect the Host.
Storms will ravish the land
As eternal fire will scorch their souls.

I summon the great Leviathan!
     “Rise from the depths,
     My son’s time has come!
     And bring about their deaths,
     As their world burns!”

With a great rumbling, the beast comes
To pound on mother earth as she turns.
Voices cry out as they witness the evil
Brought on by whom they call the Devil.

I relish in their terrified screams
As I watch them come apart at the seams.
My only hope is that Faith cannot see me
As I bring the human race to its knees.

God watches from Heaven,
“You can not touch me here,
You have nothing that I fear.
Feel free to slaughter them in droves,
And let them burn with you below.”

As I ponder his words, the storms ease
Raindrops falling like tears from leaves.
The Leviathan sinks into the froth
As I look upon the desolation I had wrought.

If the creator cares nothing for his sheep
Then no longer among them will I reap.
I will leave it to them to find their own way
Into the musty confines of their graves.

From the shadows I hear Faith say,
“Let the Host be his own downfall
For soon one day He will crawl
     Before us and beg mercy
     For all of his crimes.”

Therefore, I shall wait and bide
And eternity of time.
For Yahweh to come to me
And set Himself to his knees.

And on that fateful day
What will I have to say?
Will open my arms for my part
Or stab Him in his blackened heart?
