What We Became
He had a limp
From beatings his father gave
And I had a scar
From someone burning my house down
School was our battle ground
The bigger kids
Laughed at us
Smaller kids
Thought we were monsters
We were sent out
Of our classroom
Because we were "distractions"
When lunch rolled around
We would run for our lives
Because they would chase us
They would pull our hair
Call us names
We knew something had to give
We gave our souls
Became part of their gang
Now we are no longer
Terrorized children
We are the oppressors
**No one in this poem is a real person**
