Image for the poem Dont

Dont't Care to Care

Walk through the door with those first words you say
"All you have done is painfully polished my day"
You are this
You're that

My slate is being licked clean by the sharpness of your tongue
Every swing you took leaving my skin stung
In the corner I am left to bleed
Dogs are growling only in excitment to feed
I have become a stationary stone
Of your momumental throne

Your eyes first met mine and you spoke words of hate
Told me I was this
I am that
I never do a thing to your satisfaction
And thats why I am your subtraction
Negative to the book you hold so dearly
An honor to a legacy I don't care to abide by
I don't care to care

If I did then I shall wake
Fragmented by the volcanic shake
My heart will split
My brain would break
There would be no other parts of my soul for you to take
If I don't care to care
I'd never get hurt
So with these words I will avert

To try and scratch the past now clean
Would be a mistake made obscene
For I will never forget all the days
Where I die with every word you say
When you change the color of my skin to pale blue
Where you drive me mad
Where from the ceiling I flew

You push me closer to the edge with each shove
Each word reverberating from wall to wall
So with these words I vow never to care to care
With this hand I'll never share
A heartbeat with you
And this I mean as your abuse has been overdue
