Facing Off

Her every word
is precious,
regardless
of the style,
subject,
or sentiment.

In anger,
she roars
a flaming
incinderation.

In pain,
she paints
a red and raw
vernacular.

In envy,
she relents not
and bellows
that moonlessness.

In irony,
she tests the waters
of her drowning
as an iron chef.

In the end,
regardless,
her rebounding
rambunctiousness
retaliates
against the light
by being
all the darker,
which has the effect
of cutting paper,
black and sharp,
an image
of a starkness,
lone and wanton,
all the more,
yes,
all the more.
