Oh merry-go round

If I have to describe the presidential aspirants
for 2016 the one thing that I can say
is at least it is still early
because my support is so far away

Shall we look at Mrs. Clinton
wants so much to show she is tough
senate record of support for all defense spending
a need to be seen as having the right stuff
Will we get another strategy of triangulation
like Dick Morris did with hubby Bill
that stuff just nauseated me
the taste made me feel quite ill
And the insistence that trade agreements like NAFTA
will set all the world right in the black
ended up helping Wall Street at the expense of Main Street
the poor just taking further steps back

Or perhaps cantankerous Joe Biden
I actually liked him the first time he ran
that was back in 1988 eons ago
feels like the presidents' staff would like his head in the sand
like when he says he "rather be bopping" his wife
or at the White House washes his muscle car
sans even a shirt
then invites female staffers for rides
should we infer that all he does is flirt?
Even more problematic is agreeing on issues
that the president has taken a role
some that they both opposed as senators
as if now they are aware of the polls

Please don't tell me the best the Republicans
can come up with is Rand Paul
the federal government would be reduce to non-existent
except his concept of defense
Tea Party logic isn't always logical
defies fundamentals of common sense
feel sorry if he was in the White House
and a major disaster did happen to strike
so incapacitated would be emergency services
the scene nobody would say they liked

I am to trust Governor Perry?
a wacky noodle what more to be said
best example of capital punishment gone haywire
his presidency would make me want to stay in bed
besides we told us that his lone star state
should have "left the union" at one time
not liking federal regulations
selective application was on his mind
because he didn't have a problem when fires and hurricanes
took it's toll on the gigantic state
a Perry presidency sounds anything but great

So yes it may be early, others may join the race
Christie of New Jersey, Castro of Texas to name two
within both major parties plenty of ambition
maybe wait a bit is what we should do
to win they must kiss butt and suck up
make sure they hit talking points tight
even if contradicted by veracity
or sense of doing what's right

So at this time it you had to ask me
what I will do when a selection must be made
I might even write in your name
for these choices just don't make the grade
