Image for the poem Not Alone

Not Alone

You come awake in the dead of night,
Not even a sound, not even a light.
But something uneasy creeps behind,
Slithering like a snake down your spine.
Suddenly, not so safe in your home,
The sick feeling of not being alone.
Can you see me looking in your window,
Or am I merely another shadow?
Look into the utter blackness through
The night and see me looking back
At you.
