The Redkite
I watched a redkite in the sky
to the east it flew and straight,
high and sure wings flexing slow
I watched 'til I saw no more.
The sun in my eyes, low and bright
another day and skylark chatter
it will come back, but not today,
high, sure wings flexing slow.
Tonight I'll watch a red kite
flying west diamond eyes and silent
shining in the evening sun, whirling
swirling, gliding, a master of his art,
the tallest Corsican in the wood
just for the night, waiting for the sun.
I shall call early in the morning
and watch a redkite in the sky as
to the east it flies and straight.
to the east it flew and straight,
high and sure wings flexing slow
I watched 'til I saw no more.
The sun in my eyes, low and bright
another day and skylark chatter
it will come back, but not today,
high, sure wings flexing slow.
Tonight I'll watch a red kite
flying west diamond eyes and silent
shining in the evening sun, whirling
swirling, gliding, a master of his art,
the tallest Corsican in the wood
just for the night, waiting for the sun.
I shall call early in the morning
and watch a redkite in the sky as
to the east it flies and straight.
