Making Shadows
Hidden beneath sleepless eyes
fighting to break free
from a room full of emptiness
broken not knowing
what tomorrow holds
thinking of different ways
to matter to someone
Not wanting to live inside
a life of trapped memories
instead making new ones
and maybe stop
chasing the poor shadows
on the wall
than be the one creating the
shadows as sweet love
is being made

This poem reminds me of a rule of camouflage my late father used to teach army cadets when he was an officer - "Shadow - use it, don't make it!"
