ASHES TO DUST

Catch a waft of rot on the breeze
Coming from the dead in the trees
Swinging as they cook in the sun
Flies have set the eggs in
Blank eyes stare from the lease

Decorations from the surgeons of war
Crimson pools staining the killing floor
No one is safe, women or children
All will fall to the will of God
To try to fill a voided core

     The power of God, papers in hand
     Giving license to the land of the damned
     Swinging in the rain for word of man
     Ashes to dust for those of the damned

Live your life as simple as you can
Breaking your back for the fruit of the land
If you do not give homage to God
Men will come calling
To proclaim you heretic with a brand

But you are free to murder and rape
Blood of Christ gives you red tape
To hide behind your crimes
Bless me for I have sinned
Now you sit with Jesus and berate

     Those who refuse to worship a man
     Give me license to burn with the damned
     To swing in the rain for word of a man
     Ashes to dust for those of the damned

I can see
The guilt in your eyes
As you subject me to judgment
I will hang in the wind
Can you see
Pity in my eyes?
You are subject to true judgment
Judging me is a sin
Will you cry
When faced with the wrath
Of Old Testament Yahweh?
Let Damnation begin

Lose the light and smell of incense
No one came forth in our defense
You slaughtered not for God
But instead in spite
Now punishment must commence

     For those who claimed to worship the Man
     Given license to burn with the damned
     Suffer for the head of the Ram
     Ashes to dust for those whom are damned

An eternity of inferno seasons
Do you even understand the reasons
For everlasting torment?
