The Dawning

Amidst the morning mist
I glimpsed the dawning sun
My heart thrummed in my chest
It was my soul, my only one.

Across the shaded sky
Across the coloured expanse
There lies the moon
Graced in celestial dance.

I am lifted, inspired!
Imagination runs wild
My breath is trembling
I watch with wonder of a child.

But the dawn cannot stay forever
The day must move on
So before they depart
And the beauty gone.

I looked up at those two
One fading in the sky
And another being bold
Painfully so I raised my eyes
And bid them solemn goodbye.
