Image for the poem long time gone

long time gone

the wolves will howl
& the crows will fly
the stars will fall from the sky
& I値l be gone
a long, long time
when I kiss you goodbye

I would battle the storm
& walk thru fire
to steal my share of gold
my brand will emblazon
every mountain
strange tales will be told

I will carve up the night
with Excalibur痴 steel
as bright as a crystal skull
they will speak my name
in thundering legends
& mark me remarkable

I値l devour the manna
that falls from heaven
& lick the briny sea
the Vikings will ride
& the Vandals will rape
& the Huns will remember me

I was cut from stone
as a curious man
to heed adventure痴 call
but angels are cast
into fiery hells
& every hero will fall

fear the howling wolf
curse the flying crow
one day they値l hang me high
& I値l be gone
a long, long time
when I kiss you goodbye
