trying to  strike a light

 


the universe is
more dark than it
is light, so
they say

the same seems
to me to be
true about the living
of our lives

there's a lot
of fear, and a
lot of conflict
and a lot of lies,
on a green
and a blue speeding planet,
it spins,
it's chained to the sun

I think we
can only
try to see and do
something that helps somebody,
helps ourselves,
that doesn't
add to
the hate and the wars and
the stupidity and the crimes

it makes me feel good
to think I've made
some sense of something for
myself, not
like the bad times,
when there is a
hell of a
lot of dark,
not
much light in my
days in my
life

mind in a prison
so
very many times

life can be darker than death, probably,
we have to keep on
striking a light.
