(Guatemala 1987)

girl,
went to a bar

a guy bought her a few drinks
 his little band of thugs

dragged her around
by her collar shouting,

'who wants a woman',

and they would toss her to you

she was wailing, sobbing

hair stood up on my back
wanted to open my door
Ask how much

so they could go away

and I could comfort her

but I didn't

everything was quiet again
