Collecting a Debt
I can hear his steps on the gravel
At what great distance did he travel?
Just to collect a debt
His eyes burning red
A fist is banging on my front door
The knocking resounding in my core
Fine print, I have not read
Reason to claim my head
A Being above men
Shall I let him in?
I made a deal many years ago
I see his shadow through my window
There is all to fear
Does he know I’m here?
A Being, another breed
It’s me that he can see
I do nothing, but the door swings wide
Fear stills my heart and chills my insides
He reaches to me
Damns me for my greed
He tells me, with my soul I must pay
Or I’ll never see another day
I must pay the debt
My soul’s burning red
At what great distance did he travel?
Just to collect a debt
His eyes burning red
A fist is banging on my front door
The knocking resounding in my core
Fine print, I have not read
Reason to claim my head
A Being above men
Shall I let him in?
I made a deal many years ago
I see his shadow through my window
There is all to fear
Does he know I’m here?
A Being, another breed
It’s me that he can see
I do nothing, but the door swings wide
Fear stills my heart and chills my insides
He reaches to me
Damns me for my greed
He tells me, with my soul I must pay
Or I’ll never see another day
I must pay the debt
My soul’s burning red
