The 13th Door

I stopped in one night
Fatigue weighing my eyes down
An old man behind the desk
Grouchy, pissed off, wearing a frown
I said, “I’d like a room.”
Needless to say, I didn’t know it was a tomb
Took my keys down the hall
And there stood the door between two walls
The hinges squealed like a pig
I felt something brush my back like a twig
But there was nothing there

As I lay, there came a storm
I was under the covers, unable to get warm
Consciousness finally let loose
Soon I felt on my throat a hangman’s noose
Awoke with a gasp of breath
Feeling a creeping, impending death
Phantom limbs reach from the bed
Seeking to make me part of the dead
Panicked, I’m trashing, try to fight
‘Til all I see is the final white light
Losing my mind at the 13th Door

Asphyxia slowly setting in
Making me relive all of my sins
Ghost limps become flesh
Seems as if I am seeing through mesh
Vision filled with fuzz
From the dead flesh come flys that buzz
Planting their eggs in my skin
Finally the creeping darkness descends
Feelings are fading fast
With one last gasp, I take in my last
Losing my life at the 13th Door
