Still Smiling
It's hard for her
to lift her foot,
hard for her
to climb the stairs.
It's hard for her
to hear my words,
hard for her
to understand.
It's hard for her
to use a spoon,
hard for her
to make her tea.
It's hard for her
to lose the freedom,
to ask for help.
But to see the sparkle
in her eyes,
to feel the love
in her smile.
It's so easy for her,
to make me smile.
to lift her foot,
hard for her
to climb the stairs.
It's hard for her
to hear my words,
hard for her
to understand.
It's hard for her
to use a spoon,
hard for her
to make her tea.
It's hard for her
to lose the freedom,
to ask for help.
But to see the sparkle
in her eyes,
to feel the love
in her smile.
It's so easy for her,
to make me smile.

A really simple poem that brings out a lot of emotion and empathy through very few words.
Thanks for an enjoyable read.

One day I was going down the road and I see a lady waving crazy for me to stop,so I did. When I got out I saw her poor mom sitting on the ground too heavy for her to lift.So I helped get her up and then up the stairs, she sat in her chair, all ended well...I came away with this :)

You were very lucky to experience that and the effect that it had on your life. Enough to have written a beautiful poem about it. And I'm sure they were equally as greatful. There should be more men (people) like you around. Great job.
