Joy
Oh! my sweet why lament you so
the sedge is green upon the lake
as lilies bloom the summer eve.
Skylarks high sing loud and clear
and butterflies drink deep,
The owl and fox are gone
no more a threat as such it was,
the earth was mine with them
heaven is my reward with thee.
Be bold my love let us take of each
rise from your bed of grief,
I am yours but for the asking;
I am maiden that my gift
no man knows me, that my grief.
Come my love share yourself,
lament no more, cry one
last time upon my breasts,
for joy, I know is ours today.
