My Crown Made of Clovers

The ground was warm
from the sun shining down upon it
we would sit  and talk for hours
she would gently pluck clovers from
the lawn and twist the stems together
showing me how to do it as she went along
she said when she was little her mother
showed her how to do it and one day
I'll teach my girl how as well
I remember when it was all done, how
pretty it looked, it took a lot of clovers
to make a full crown
she made mine perfect, lacing strands of
my platinum blonde hair around the stems
It's amazing how something so simple can
mean so much to someone
