Do you remember how to dance?

Disarmed you
with a smile
found a way
past your
social camouflage
I knew your thorny
defense, was exactly that
Painful memories from past
jailers, harsh treatment
of your beauty
Taken for granted
sweet flower
withdrawn
from the sun

My smile
fully deprecating
yet it worked
I must confess
it's getting dark
now, this is all
a facade
I layer my armor
wear my scars
like a badge
The voodoo woman
she holds
my still beating heart

They call me
the wild rose
she smiled
held my hand
turned to me
Do you remember
how to dance
blue eyes?
