U I Loved

This morning,  I spotted a painting in the window
my attention it had,  'cause of the subject in it so,
as I stared at it more intently,
My mind drifts back in time...

To a place that was awe-inspiring in it's beauty
made even more so, because it's
where you first kissed me so sweetly.
You told me, hold me close...never me let go.
I say my love for you, fills me...from head to toe.

Then, I return to reality...
I wonder, were you just my fantasy?

When a phone call interrupts my thoughts:
“HELLO?”,
It's you on the other end-
heart skips a beat (thump...thump).

You ask,
“ IS THERE A PLACE THAT WE COULD MEET?”
Quickly I reply to your request,
“HOW ‘BOUT OUR FAVORITE LOVE-NEST?”
She responds with a definite yes!
Later on, I'm decked out in semi-formal attire.
She appears like a vision, I heat up with desire.

This lady is so beautiful,  from the inside out.
I thank god for her, lucky I am that's no doubt!

Then  just when she is within inches of my grasp...
I try to embrace her but, air is all I that I clasp.

Sirens shrieking, awake me from a dream-state
On the bed I cry , because I recall where went my mate.

She went away some time ago...
left me,  'cause it was her time to go.
I'm remembering her words now
before her journey to above...

Don't cry for me,
live happily, and always know...

That in my life, It was you...that I loved.
