ANOTHER LIFE LOST

Heart beating loudly
Deep red liquid spreads across his chest
Another young life lost
In the last moments of his life
He reflects on the way he lived his short life
What brought him to this point?
All the time wasted
Never giving value to his young life
To late now
Did not get to be a man
Just another wasted life
Killing recklessly, dying needlessly
No thought for anyone, not himself or his family
Is your life really worth so little?
Why the eagerness to die
Why is succeeding so wrong
The last moments of his life have wasted away
In the papers tomorrow the head lines will say
Another black youth died today
What have you proven or achieved
By dying this way.

Deeply sad, n far too often a reality
I could've been one if these young men
had I NOT chosen to avoid trouble
n actually try to make a positive impact on
my n my family's lives. Still far from where I need to be
but at least I can say I've accomplished
more than those I grew up with n around
have as most are imprisoned of dead.
Your ink spilled a raw, real, reality lady
n yea, makes one think n shake their head
and wonder why?? Why be in a hurry to DIE?

yeah I'm really digging this.... as a black man I make it my business to school my nephews AND their friends on life..... it's up to us to keep reaching back and reclaim our youth... I deeply respect the sentiment of this strongly written piece
